The leader in the thermostat industry is Honeywell, who can trace its beginning to 1885, and was later founded in 1906. Their mission statement of “make a difference in everything we do” holds true, even today. It has long been the standard in controls. There is a high probability you have a Honeywell thermostat in your home. Ecobee is the new kid on the block, but don’t let that fool you! Since its introduction in 2007, they have grown to be one of the leading smart home and energy management providers in the world.
We offer a whole line of Honeywell and Ecobee products for your every need. We also offer the Carrier Infinity series thermostat for any Carrier communicating system.
Wi-Fi & Smart Thermostat FAQS
What type of thermostat should I get?
This depends on your desired control level. First, choose if you want a programmable thermostat. The next question would be if you want a smart or Wi-Fi capable thermostat. Our favorite is the Ecobee! It has wifi capabilities and can be programmed so you can adjust temperature settings remotely from a smartphone!
What is an energy star?
Energy Star defines smart thermostats as Wi-Fi-enabled devices that automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings for optimal performance. Typically, they have features that “learn” the temperatures you prefer and help you set a schedule that reverts to energy-saving settings when you’re asleep, away, or at work.
What is a “C-wire”?
A C-wire, or a common wire, runs from your low-voltage heating system (24v) and carries continuous power to your thermostat. In today’s market, most heating and cooling systems have a C-wire, which guarantees compatibility with all smart thermostats. For most smart thermostats to control heating and cooling, they would require 5 wires of communication. There are ways around this if you have fewer wires in most cases.
